1. Used as a redox indicator and a reagent for the determination of ferrotitanium.
2. Used for the photometric analysis of copper, the determination of ultra-micro blood sugar and the extraction of platinum.
3. Used for the colorimetric determination of divalent iron, platinum and palladium. When complexed with copper, it has nuclease activity and has been used to study DNA-protein interactions.
